Shoot 4 - Megan
Planning
For this shoot I organised to photograph Megan, working with different cameras to figure out which one worked the best. I planned to used a Mamiya Leaf, Hasselblad and Nikon D800. These three different cameras pick up on different things within an image and I wanted to figure out which was the most suited to this project. I also wanted to try and light a model with dark hair against a dark background to develop my studio skills and really see if the dark background was suitable.
Film - Hasselblad
This shoot wasn't as successful as the last few shoots, and due to this I think I realised that the lighting style was a little harsh. The images look successful and the playing with Hasselblad and Mamiya Leaf went well, as I developed my limited skills with Mamiya Leaf and realised what a great camera it is for capturing skin tones alongside dark surroundings. However, lighting dark hair with a dark background brought up problems, which I guessed it would, and the lighting had to be very harsh on the harsh to actually capture it within the image. The dark background and single flash light meant that one side of the models face was light, creating an odd shape pertruding from the background and that didn't help the image aesthetically. This shoot has made me realise two things: one that I need to continue playing around with the lighting style and background, using more neutral toned backgrounds so that each hair colour stands out from them. And two, that the use of all three cameras is successful right now as this project is so broad that each camera gives a different aesthetic to the images and testing these all out help me explore the concept in ore depth, seeing how hair can be captured with different techniques.
