Edit Tutorial and Feedback
Below are the images I took to my edit tutorial, with a zine and eBook as a final output in mind, so I can see all the work I have created together in one piece and figure out what step to next take.
I brought these images to the edit tutorial in hope to get advice on which I should put in my final submission of a zine, however after the tutorial we realised that actually printing a zine wouldn't be the right way to submit this work, especially as the project is still in the experimental stages. In terms of submission, putting images together that don't sit properly in connection with each other will tear away from the stronger work I have created, making the work look less prominent and visually pleasing than it actually is. For supporting work I will still create an eBook for myself to look over and see the extent of my work and where to go next, however it is not suitable for a final submission.
When showing the images in the edit tutorial, it was suggested to print a selection A3 size, to show the detail and studio skill within them. Since making the images, I have been intrigued as to what they would look like printed large. This feels like the perfect opportunity to make this move, to print them large enough so they can be seen in full detail, and also allow me to see what I need to change with the portrait lighting, as seeing it as a small file on a computer does not do it justice, and library printing makes the images look darker than they already are. So, for the final submission, I have decided, with help from my tutors and peers, that I will print a selection of my portraits and still life images size A3, placed in a print box, so that I can show the successful images I have created so far and place them side by side to compare and contrast, and figure out what I need to do next.
It will only include portraits and still life's because the hairdresser shots are still very much a working progress and the portraits have been a main focus of the work I have created so far, and so therefore are more successful than other areas I have photographed.
